Since Christ is the head of the church, we must make His priorities our priorities.  We find His priorities in two key passages of Scripture.

GREAT COMMANDMENT

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord they God with all they heart, and with all they soul, and with all they mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love they neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” -Matthew 22:37-40

GREAT COMMISSION

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” -Matthew 28:19-20

The purpose of Old Fields Baptist Church is to provide regular opportunities for public worship, to sustain the ordinances, doctrine, and ethics set forth in the New Testament for the church of our Lord Jesus Christ; to nurture its members through a program of Christian education; to channel its offerings to the support of the objectives of the Redeemer’s Kingdom, and to preach and propagate among all people the gospel of the revelation of God through Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

We believe that God has established Old Fields Baptist Church to be His witness in the world in which we live. He has called us to do this in the following ways:

1) WORSHIP GOD: We believe that God is to be worshiped through both personal worship as well as congregational worship. Our congregational worship consists of a mixture of traditional hymns as well as contemporary praise choruses. We also worship through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word and prayer.

2) FOLLOW JESUS: We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the church and we are to follow His earthly example of life and love. We strive to obey his teachings by following the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) and the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40).

3) SERVE OTHERS: We believe that it is important for Christians to assist others in their spiritual needs as well as their physical needs. We strive to accomplish this through hands-on mission projects and outreach.

4) CHANGE THE WORLD: We know that the condition of the world can only be changed through the saving power of Jesus Christ. Christ has commissioned us to be His witnesses not only in our own communities, but also around the world. We do this through mission efforts and the belief that the gospel spreads through the lives we touch.
