Mission Trips

Jesus Christ, before ascending to heaven, left us with a powerful commission, a call to go and make disciples of all nations. This divine charge is found in Matthew 28:18-20:
"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'" (Matthew 28:18-20, NIV)

This Great Commission is not merely a suggestion or an optional activity for the church; it is a direct command from our Savior. The authority of Christ, encompassing all of heaven and earth, empowers us to go beyond the walls of our church and reach the ends of the earth with the transformative message of the Gospel.

Moreover, in Acts 1:8, we find another crucial directive that further emphasizes the global scope of our mission:
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8, NIV)

Here, the promise of the Holy Spirit underscores our source of strength and guidance. The mission is not a task we undertake in our own strength but is fueled by the empowering presence of the Spirit. Our witness begins in our local context (Jerusalem), extends to the surrounding areas (Judea and Samaria), and reaches the farthest corners of the world (the ends of the earth).

The heartbeat of Old Fields Baptist Church is to be on mission for the glory of God. We believe Jesus meant what He said, when He told His followers to go to all the nations and make disciples. (Matthew 28:18-20)  Old Fields Baptist Church is committed to be an Acts 1:8 body of believers who are witnesses in our Jerusalem (Old Fields and throughout Hardy County), Judea (West Virginia), Samaria (North America), and to the ends of the earth (Internationally). We desire to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, “Down the Street and Around the World”.
